This Friday the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida will host the highly anticipated rematch between two of the UFC’s top flyweights “Uncle Creepy” Ian McCall (11-2-1) and “Mighty Mouse” Demetrious Johnson (14-2-1). The last time these 125ers met it ended in a Majority Draw; now, they will duke it out once again to determine who will face Joseph Benavidez (16-2) for a shot at the inaugural UFC Flyweight Championship title. But before the UFC on FX 3 main card kicks off, fans across the nation will be treated to a stellar line-up in the prelims aired live on Fuel TV and streamed on Facebook. Among those promising undercard fights is a welterweight match-up between undefeated Lance Benoist (6-0) and a potential future star, “The Polish Pistola” Seth Baczynski (15-6). The six-foot-four Baczynski, who was a member of Team Ortiz on Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter, has grown into a well-rounded mixed martial artist since his professional debut in 2006, as his ten wins by submission, five by KO/TKO, and eight first-round finishes can attest. Despite having mixed success in his earlier career, “The Polish Pistola” currently enjoys a three-fight win streak and is MMA Gospel’s pick for the UFC on FX 3 “Undercard Sleeper”.

UFC Fight Night 25 Pre-Fight Breakdown: Erik Koch vs. Jonathan Brookins

New Orleans, Louisiana gets its seventh taste of Octagon action when the UFC returns with another installment of its signature series Fight Night this Saturday. “The Talent” Alan Belcher (16-6) and “The Athlete” Jason MacDonald (23-14) are set to start the night off in a middleweight bout. Korean transplant “The Ox” Dongi Yang (5-1) and The Ultimate Fighter 11 winner “Crusher” Court McGee (11-1) lock up in another battle in the 185lbs. division. In the main event, Jake Shields (26-5-1) and “The Juggernaut” Jake Ellenberger (24-5) meet to see which wrestler can rightfully call the UFC canvas their home. The featherweights make themselves known on the main card between all this action when Jonathan Brookins (14-1) and “New Breed” Erik Koch (12-1) grace the UFC cage. Brookins springs back to action from a nine-month hiatus as The Ultimate Fighter Season 12 champion. Koch is one of the fastest featherweights in the world with two back-to-back knockouts on his heels. The time could not have been any more perfect for these two to finally step up and meet. The UFC returns to the bayou when UFC Fight Night 25 takes place once again in New Orleans, Louisiana this Saturday night. Former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion and top contender Jake Shields (26-5-1) plans to get back into his winning ways when he meets fellow wrestling powerhouse “Juggernaut” Jake Ellenberger (24-5). “New Breed” Erik Koch (12-1) is charged with the task of welcoming back fellow featherweight Jonathan Brookins (14-1) in a promising fast-paced battle. In the co-main event, fan favorite TUF 11 winner “Crusher” Court McGee (11-1) takes on one of the silent killers of the middleweight division, “The Ox” Dongi Yong (5-1). Among all the action though, UFC veteran “The Athlete” Jason MacDonald (23-14) brings his crafty ground game to the cage when striking extraordinaire “The Talent” Alan Belcher (16-6) returns to face him after a lengthy lay-off.  Belcher has been absent from combat for some time but his stand-up game is the weapon of choice he can always rely on. MacDonald might be creeping into the elder years in respect to MMA competition but with a tight submission game, Father Time might have to take a backseat for now as athleticism tries to shut down talent. UFC 127: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch is in the books following a very entertaining night of mixed martial arts action highlighting some of the best fighters in the world. The card continued the UFC’s recent trend of exciting throwdowns that began earlier this year in stark contrast to the multiple events that fell flat in the fans’ eyes at the close of 2010. The card featured several pages from every fans’ MMA story book with emerging competitors, underdog victories, classic striker vs. grappler matches, and even the dreaded “to be continued” cliff hanger fight, this time the main event majority draw between “The Prodigy” BJ Penn (16-7-2) and Jon Fitch (22-3-1). Of course, it wouldn’t be the UFC without some sort of controversy to set the fans against the judges, various fighters, and themselves, and UFC 127 provided that with a horribly botched preliminary fight decision, the aforementioned draw which immediately sets each fighter’s fans against each other, and a questionable rules violation followed by some post-fight antics that may have been ill advised. Some fighters can crawl through the muck and come out clean on the other side, others couldn’t save puppies from a burning building and repair what they did to their reputations here. Tomorrow night the UFC returns to The Land Down Under for its second event in the island nation with UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch, a stacked card with several potential title contention positions on the line.  In the main attraction, former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight Champion “The Prodigy” BJ Penn (16-7) takes on American Kickboxing Academy stand-out Jon Fitch (22-3) in a barn burner match-up that will decide who moves closer to a shot at the welterweight belt that seemingly is a perpetual staple of “Rush” Georges St. Pierre’s (21-2) wardrobe. The co-main event pits the face of MMA in the UK, “The Count” Michael Bisping (20-3), against dangerous knockout artist “El Conquistador” Jorge Rivera (18-7) in a match-up that will determine a top contender spot in the 185lbs. division. Additionally, Australian-born southpaw “KO” Kyle Noke (18-4-1) welcomes The Ultimate Fighter 11 alum Chris Camozzi (14-3) in his UFC main card debut while dangerous striker “Lights Out” Chris Lytle (30-17-5) faces off against fellow seasoned veteran Brian Ebersole (39-13-1). Also on the card is Australian native and The Ultimate Fighter 6 alum George Sotiropoulos (14-2) looking to keep his undefeated streak in the UFC alive as he takes on the dangerous German kickboxer Dennis Siver (17-7) in a bout that will move the victor one step closer to taking on the winner of “The Answer” Frankie Edgar (13-1-1) and “The Bully” Gray Maynard (10-0-1) in their championship rubber match. This Saturday night the UFC treks across the globe to Sydney, Australia for a second time as “The Prodigy” BJ Penn (16-7-1) takes on Jon Fitch (22-3) to headline UFC 127. The card presents an outstanding smack talk-driven bout between “The Count” Michael Bisping (20-3) and Jorge Rivera (18-7) as well as bouts featuring the crowd pleasing warriors Dennis Siver (17-7), George Sotiropoulos (14-2), and “Lights Out” Chris Lytle (30-17-5) in addition to the UFC debut of IFL veteran Brian Ebersole (39-13-1). As usual, the UFC has decided to showcase some local talent for the Aussie fans and joining Sotiropoulos and Mark Hunt (5-7) on the list of Australian fighters is The Ultimate Fighter 11 semi-finalist “KO” Kyle Noke (18-4-1). Opposite the former Xtreme Fighting Championship (XFC) champion will stand American prospect and Noke’s one time TUF cast mate Chris Camozzi (14-3).
