Following a successful Fight for the Troops event in Afghanistan, Wreck MMA returns to its home in Canada for their first event of the new year with Wreck MMA: Strong and Proud. The January 28 card at Casino Lac-Lemay in Gatineau, Quebec plays host to a dozen fights featuring the full gamut of competitors ranging from former UFC contenders to aspiring prospects making their professional debut. The main event highlights one of Canada’s top welterweights “Young Guns” Jordan Mein (13-5) taking on the seasoned UFC, Strikeforce, and Rage in the Cage veteran “Diesel” Joe Riggs (33-12) and is supported by “Boots” Mark Holst (8-3) clashing with “Showtime” Markhaille Wedderburn (7-8) in the co-main event for what likely will be Holst’s last fight before hanging up his gloves for good, as he looks to focus on opening his own MMA school. Fellow main card competitor Robin Black (3-3) also is rumored to be calling it quits after his bout against Mike Reilly (1-0). Fans additionally will be treated to seeing UFC veteran Kalib Starnes (10-4-1) facing Nova Scotia’s Matt MacGrath (5-4) in a middleweight main card bout.  The full fight card is as follows: Continue reading »
