Undefeated blue chip prospect Pascal Krauss is positioned to make a splash in the UFC's 170lbs. division with a win over tough young John Hathaway in their UFC on FOX 3 undercard match-up. (Photo courtesy of Cage Warriors)

For those who don’t watch the UFC’s undercard fights, you don’t know what you’re missing. And for those that do, we often find that the prelims can be just as if not more entertaining bouts than those on the main card, and can provide valuable insight as to which fighters to keep an eye on in regards to potential future wave-makers in his respective weight division. “Panzer” Pascal Krauss (10-0) is one such fighter.

“Panzer”, a nickname meaning “tank” in his native German language, exemplifies exactly what Krauss has shown in his career – that he is a force to be reckoned with. The undefeated 25-year-old welterweight made his UFC debut at UFC 122 where he not only picked up his first win in the Zuffa promotion, he also earned “Fight of the Night” honors for his three-round war with fellow UFC newcomer “Scanno” Mark Scanlon (7-2). Krauss came into his UFC debut fight as the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship welterweight king toting an undefeated record with ten consecutive first- or second-round finishes, and looking to prove that he belonged in the world’s most prestigious MMA organization. Having shown a variety of skills against Scanlon and earning a fight bonus in his first effort, “Panzer” did not disappoint. Continue reading »

Dominique “Fallen Angel” Robinson is the man. We’ve had him and his friend and training partner, fighter James “9 Knuckles” Chaney on the radio show and they were both awesome cats. I’ve kept in touch with them on Twitter and when I heard they’d be out here in Vegas for Dom’s fight with Anderson Silva’s student Paulo Bananada at Superior Cage Combat 4, I had to go. The rest of the card had some impressive names too – like UFC vets Kendall Grove vs. Jay Silva in the main event.

Anyway, the kind folks at SCC gave me a press pass, despite my frequent assertions that I’m not a journalist. Hey, I’m better than a journalist; I’m a social media juggernaut. In fact, to their immense credit, when I offhandedly suggested via Twitter that they give a ticket to my Twitter friend and ammy fighter Jeff Wright, they did! All he had to do was live tweet the event and keep me company… and buy me a beer. Those last two were my stipulations. And for the record, he only lived up to the first two. He still owes me a beer. Jake Shields (top) has a lifelong history of dedication and success as a grappler that gives him an edge on the mat in an otherwise very even bout. (Photo courtesy of Zuffa, LLC.)

The UFC returns to the great state of Louisiana for battle for the seventh time in its history as TUF vets, former WEC stand-outs, and returning blue chippers meet for Ultimate Fight Night 25. Kicking things off in the Big Easy are two middleweight warriors, “The Athlete” Jason MacDonald (23-14) and long absent prospect “The Talent” Alan Belcher (16-6). Featherweight Ultimate Fighter winner Jonathan Brookins (14-1) takes on the always dangerous WEC veteran Eric Koch (12-1) in the night’s second battle and “The Crusher” Court McGee (11-1) joins Korean fighter “The Ox” Dongi Yang (5-1) in the Octagon to round things out before the main event. For the marquis bout of the evening, one of the most dominant fighters in Strikeforce history, former champion Jake Shields (26-5-1), tries to rebound from his title fight loss by stopping the streaking welterweight frontrunner Jake Ellenberger (24-5). The pair offer interesting challenges for one another, and the winner will likely find himself across the cage from the welterweight champion in the near future.   Continue reading »
