Friday night The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada played host to the fifth annual Fighters Only MMA Awards. The awards focused on the best the world of mixed martial arts had to offer during the entire 2012 calendar year, with the 21 categories honoring fighters, media organizations, apparel companies, technical equipment, and much more. A dominant five-round decision heralded the return of UFC Welterweight Champion “Rush” Georges St. Pierre (23-2) who improved to 10-2 in UFC title bouts against tough as nails challenger “Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (28-6) in last night’s UFC 154 “Fight of the Night”. The rest of the card delivered as well, much to the approval of the sold-out Montreal crowd with several exciting bouts including a brutal first-round KO courtesy of “Big Rigg” Johny Hendricks (14-1) over “Hitman” Martin Kampmann (20-6). A trio of decisions opened the card with “Limitless” Francis Carmont (20-7) getting two out of three judges to turn his way against “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (8-5), Rafael dos Anjos (18-6) completely dominating Mark Bocek (11-5), and “The Scarecrow” Pablo Garza (12-3) showing that he has contendership qualities by thrashing “The Machine” Mark Hominick (20-12). The fans were big winners this time around, a welcome change after several lackluster Pay-Per-View offerings, but the fighters fall into three categories: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Tonight the UFC returns to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and this time brings a highly anticipated match-up to unify the promotion’s esteemed welterweight title. Back after a long lay-off due to knee surgery is UFC Welterweight Champion “Rush” Georges St. Pierre (22-2), who puts his belt on the line against the man who claimed the interim title in Pierre’s 18-month-long absence, “Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (28-5). Another pair of 170lb-ers are featured in the co-main event with Danish kickboxer “Hitman” Martin Kampmann (20-5) and heavy-handed “Big Rigg” Johny Hendricks (13-1) squaring off for a potential title shot. Anchoring the UFC 154 main card is a middleweight match-up between “Limitless” Francis Carmont (19-7) and “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (8-4). The sophomore bout of the evening highlights TUF alums Constantinos Philippou (11-2) and “The Promise” Nick Ring (13-1), preceded by a featherweight affair between WEC veteran “The Machine” Mark Hominick (20-11) and “The Scarecrow” Pablo Garza (11-3). The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec Canada as UFC 154 is presented live and direct on Pay-Per-View. Featherweights kick off the main card as “The Machine” Mark Hominick (20-11) and “The Scarecrow” Pablo Garza (11-3) meet in a high-stakes fight as each men need a win to stay in the organization. “The Promise” Nick Ring (13-2) enjoys a home field advantage against Constantinos Philippou (11-2). “Limitless” Francis Carmont (19-7) and “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (8-4) are granted the main card’s anchor. The welterweight division will be given a change in scenery with the night’s closing events. A new contender will be crowned as “The Hitman” Martin Kampmann (20-5) and “Big Rigg” (13-1) Johny Hendricks collide in the co-main event. UFC 154 is set to hit the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada this Saturday and all eyes are on the return of “Rush” Georges St.Pierre (22-2) as he defends his belt in a title unification bout against “Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (28-5). The world premier mixed martial arts association, UFC, returns to Montreal, Quebec, Canada on November 17 to present its latest installment of mixed martial arts actions with UFC 154. “Rush” Georges St. Pierre (22-2) and “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (28-5) headline the event with the welterweight champion up for grabs. “Big Rigg” Johny Hendricks (13-1) meets “The Hitman” Martin Kampmann (20-5) in the night’s co-main event in which the victor might very well be the next welterweight contender. “Limitless” Constantinos Philippou (11-2) takes on “The Promise” Nick Ring and in the main card’s opener, “The Machine” Mark Hominick (20-11) dukes it out with “The Scarecrow” Pablo Garza (11-3). An unlikely addition to the main card but one surely to entertain the fans in the card’s anchor, Francis Carmont (19-7) takes on “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (8-4) in a middleweight exhibition. The UFC will welcome back the most dominant welterweight fighter in the organization’s storied history as ”Rush” Georges St. Pierre (22-2) steps into the Octagon in front of a ravenous hometown crowd to face ”Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (28-5) at UFC 154. The title unification bout isn’t the only high octane welterweight affair that will grace the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. ”Hitman” Martin Kampmann (20-5) and “Big Rigg” Johny Hendricks (13-1) will also meet in the co-main to possibly decide a challenger for the main event’s winner. ”Limitless” Francis Carmont (19-7) will anchor the card against the always entertaining “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (8-4) and ”The Machine” Mark Hominick (20-11) has pulled opening duties against “The Scarecrow” Pablo Garza (11-3).
