What was supposed to be three title fights in Bellator’s return to Tunica, Mississippi has been stripped down to two after Bellator Featherweight Champion “Big Frog” Pat Curran (17-4) fractured his orbital bone preparing for his first title defense against challenger “Pitbull” Patricio Freire (17-1). While the 145lbs. title fight will be rescheduled, Friday evening’s Bellator 73 main event has shifted to the 135lbs. Season 6 Finale as “Loro” Marcos Galvao (12-5) faces “Betao” Luis Alberto Nogueira (14-2). Both men came up short in the previous tournament but rallied back to face each other for the right to a title shot. “Diesel” Travis Wiuff (68-14) and “Pumukli” Attila Vegh (27-4) will go to war to close out the Summer Series and the 205lbs. tournament. Supporting the two tournament finales is a pair of bouts in the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions as Pro Elite and Fight to Win veteran Ryan Martinez (7-1) faces XFL veteran and one-time UFC fighter”The Juggernaut” Mike Wessel (11-4) and two 6’5″ giants, newcomer Mike Mucitelli (2-0) and  Bellator veteran Matt Van Buren (5-0), start the action of the main card at the Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino. It’s another stop in Atlantic City, New Jersey this Friday night as Caesars Hotel and Casino hosts the Bellator Season 6 Featherweight Tournament finale between former Sengoku 145lbs. king “The Monster of Rio” Marlon Sandro (22-3) and seasoned Bellator veteran Daniel Straus (19-4). Both men are making their second appearance in the tournament finals. Bantamweight semi-final number one goes down in the co-main event as WEC veteran “Loro” Macros Galvao (11-5) faces submission expert “T-Train” Travis Marx (19-3). Two UFC veterans will face off in a light heavyweight special feature fight as “The Silverback” Seth Petruzelli (14-6) battles “The Fury” Carmello Marrero (14-5). Starting off the main card on MTV2 is a rematch that has been brewing since November 2010 when their Strikeforce bout was ruled a No Contest, as DREAM Welterweight Champion “The Whitemare” Marius Zaromskis (16-6) locks horns with Wacchiim Spiritwolf (9-9) for a second time. Bellator hits the Jersey Shore again this Friday night with a four-fight main card and a golden belt on the line at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The Bellator 65 main event sees bantamweight champ “Fun Size” Zach Makovsky (14-2) take on Season 5 tournament winner, 22-year-old “Dudu” Eduardo Dantas (13-2), in Makovsky’s first ever title defense. “The Polar Bear” Cole Konrad (8-0) was scheduled to put his heavyweight strap on the line against “The American Soldier” Eric Prindle (7-1), but Prindle was struck by a last-minute injury and the title bout has been rescheduled for Bellator 70. The second 145lbs. tournament semi-final match-up will take place as well when Daniel Straus (18-4) faces the underdog and upset artist Mike Corey (12-2) with the winner to face  former Sengoku champion Marlon Sandro (22-3) in the finale. WEC veteran and Bellator tough man “Loro” Marcos Galvao (10-5) takes on the colorful wrestler “Wild” Ed West (17-6) in a Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament Quarter-Finals match-up while the opposing bracket sees returning Season Five 135lbs. finalist “The Exorcist” Alexis Vila (11-1) face Bellator veteran “Betao” Luis Alberto Nogueira (12-2). Bellator Fighting Championships CEO Bjorn Rebney is already grinding at the mill stone that is the tournament set-up process for the new season of Bellator beginning on March 2 on MTV2.  The first class of fighters on the slate for Season 6 action is the bantamweight division. With several fighters already in Bellator’s ranks joining newly signed and very skillful talents in the brackets, this upcoming season will surely prove as interesting and dynamic as ever. Last night the outdoor cage at the Cocopah Resort and Casino in Yuma, Arizona, presented a night of upsets and established the proving grounds for a young contender courtesy of Bellator 55. The card also saw the four remaining Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament competitors battle it out in the mid-90-degree heat for the coveted pair of tickets to the tourney finals. Brazilian Ricardo Tirloni (9-1) and Steve Gable (3-2) both made their promotion debuts with the hopes of a tournament position come the new year. Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion “Tonton” Christian M’Pumbu (5-2) welcomed “The Diesel” Travis Wiuff (63-14) to the Bellator cage in a non-title fight. In the featured bouts of the evening, “Wild” Ed West (15-6) slugged it out with Brazilian Shooto veteran Eduardo Dantas (7-2) and “The Exorcist” Alexis Vila (10-0) faced “Loro” Marcos Galvao (10-6) with only two men earn the title of Bellator Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament finalists. The Sun Devil State of Arizona will host the Bellator 135lbs. tournament semi-final match-ups as well as a non-title bout between 205lbs. champion “Tonton” Christian M’Pumbu (5-1) and UFC, IFC, and IFL veteran “The Diesel” Travis Wiuff (62-14). The setting is the Cocopah Resort and Casino in the city of Yuma, where four bantamweights will step into the cage and only two will step out as Bellator Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament finalists. Young and explosive Eduardo Dantas (6-2) will tangle with the experienced ever-improving wrestler “Wild” Ed West (15-5). The hard nosed and spirited “Loro” Marcos Galvao (10-5) will trade punches with the powerful hands wielded by “The Exorcist” Alexis Vila (9-0). Some people watch The Ultimate Fighter purely for the fights and don’t like the reality TV element. These people tend to be party-pooping wet blankets who think that they’re too good for a little mindless voyeuristic entertainment. Either way, the stuffy “purists” were treated to almost two hours of nothing but fights on the Season 14 premiere of TUF on Wednesday.  The fights were pretty solid – as to be expected from bantamweight and featherweight fighters. The Bellator Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament started off with a big bang at the Canton Civic Center in Ohio, with two solid knockouts and two hard fought bouts that saw the judges’ scorecards. Nonetheless it was the fans who were treated to yet another group of solid performances from Bellator’s ever growing talent pool. Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Warren (7-2), in an effort to become the promotion’s first fighter to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously, drew undefeated Alexis Vila (9-0) as his foe for the 135lbs. tournament marquis match-up. Returning Bellator veteran Wilson Reis (12-4) took on Shooto Brazil vet Eduardo Dantas (6-2) in the co-main event in a veteran versus rising star affair. Former WEC champion “The Rage” Chase Beebe (18-6) and “Loro” Marcos Galvao (10-5) returned to the cage for their second time under the Bellator banner. “Wild” Ed West (15-5) made his long awaited comeback to Bellator against Brazilian’s Luis Nogueira (11-2) in the opening bout of tournament.
