“All-American” Brian Stann (12-4) is on a mission, and not just in the cage. Aside from being one of the top middleweights in the UFC, the former Marine Captain and war hero is the President of Hire Heroes USA (HHUSA), a non-profit organization that aims to create job opportunities for US military veterans and their families “through personalized employment training and corporate engagement”, including job skill training, mock interviews, resume writing, and interviews with various employers contracted to hire military vets.
Donations are always accepted through the organization’s website, but to further their reach to the general public, Hire Heroes teamed up with The Call of Duty Endowment (CODE), another non-profit agency with similar goals. Together, they have launched a national campaign via social networking site Facebook. Until Friday, June 1 at 12pm PT, every time a Facebook user “shares” the CODE image on the site, the organization will donate $1 to Hire Heroes USA. Now in the third year of their partnership, in 2012 CODE and Hire Heroes hope to surpass last year’s mark of $36,000 to “help veterans and their spouses with transition assistance, job search assistance and job placement services”.
