Last night’s episode of MMA Gospel Radio featured The Ultimate Fighter Season 8 alumni and WEC lightweight George Roop (11-5-1), who at WEC 51 in September pulled off the unthinkable by knocking out “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung (10-3).  Having mixed professional success since his stint on The Ultimate Fighter, Roop told MMA Gospel Radio that he has been hard at work improving and expanding his fight game.  He said, “I’m in the gym constantly, trying to get better every single day. I haven’t been training in one discipline for that long…Mixed martial arts is evolving, and I’m just trying to get better.”

When asked if he would be interested in facing “Junior” Jose Aldo’s (17-1) most recent opponent and TUF Season 5 alumni “The Anvil” Manny Gamburyan (11-6), Roop said he would gladly take the fight, as he is willing to fight anyone.  He said, “I want to fight a top-ranked fighter, someone who will put me in title contention”. Noting that he has made vast improvements in his skills, Roop said he feels he could give any featherweight a run for his money.

George additionally discussed his training, his background in martial arts and the transition to MMA, his experiences in the TUF house, the evolution of mixed martial arts, his thoughts on the upcoming UFC/WEC merger, and much more. He also said he will be having a contest on Twitter where he asks fans to help give him a nickname. The winning entry will receive a prize from Roop himself.  Follow George at www.twitter.com/georgeroop for more information.
