The California Amateur Martial Arts Organization (CAMO) was voted to be the governing body for amateur MMA in California by the California State Athletic Commission. Prior to this vote amateur MMA was basically illegal and the only events were “smokers” held at gyms. CAMO’s policies and fees are essentially putting an end to something that never truly existed in the state and is forcing young fighters to go pro well before they are ready.
The main event of UFC 115 features a bout between future hall of famer “Ace” Rich Franklin (26-5) and “Iceman” Chuck Liddell (21-7). Several of the UFC’s top brass have referred to this fight as a “fight for the fans”. At the time of both their respective dominance’s I’m sure this was a fantasy fight many fans wondered about. On Saturday all the questions and speculations will end and both fighters will leave the octagon with their careers altered, either drastically or slightly depending on the outcome.
The phrase “underdog” is typically reserved for the unsung contender who everyone knows has the least chance of winning a fight, match, game, etc. I’m wondering if we actually have a true underdog on the main event of UFC 115.
