Do you know who the man above is? Well if not you have come to the right place. Last night we at mmagospel.com and MMA Gospel Radio were proud to have our 50th episode. The show was three hours of what many are calling the “legendary”. Guests included Ariel Helwani, Jason “Mayhem” Miller who was live in studio and “The Voice” Michael Schiavello.
All three guests were people the listeners, or “congregation” as well call them, had asked to hear from on this special show. Ariel started off the show as we talked about advice for up and coming journalists, tough interviews, getting stood up after promoting interviews and having to deal with, women’s MMA and much more.
Up next was Jason Miller who sat down with “The Reverend of MMA” Turk Vangel and via phone with co-host Gary Friedman to discuss, well, whatever he felt like discussing. We talked Strikeforce, the brawl, Nick Diaz, Jake Shields running away, being a ninja and much more. Mayhem entertained as always and signed some items we gave away to those that joined us in the chat room.
The final interview was the epic hour long interview done with Michael Schiavello. The Voice as he is commonly referred to as is a a commentator on HDNet for K-1 kickboxing, DREAM, Sengoku and many more combat sports and organizations. This interview really took on a life of it’s own and had the congregation buzzing in the packed chat room. This leads me to the man in the picture above.
Andy Hug is the man you see above. I had planned on asking Michael about Andy but as always he led himself right into my question, almost as if he had seen my show notes. We got off on a tangent about Hug, discussing his impact on fans of K-1, why fans of MMA should learn more about him and his tragic demise. This year marks the tenth anniversary of his passing due to leukemia. We at MMA Gospel and MMA Gospel Radio are planning something in remembrance of Mr. Hug leading up to the anniversary date of August 24th.
Stay tuned to www.mmagospel.com and MMA Gospel Radio for more information as we get closer to that date. Until then I suggest you download this 50th show via iTunes or go to the link below and listen or download as an mp3.
